The work of translation of Ramayana into its Santali version was done by Simal Chandra Mardi.
He served for Kolkata Police, & during his service he completed the work of translation of Ramayana, he retired from the same.
Besides, he also wrote a book named as " Dharamdahar "(Santali, meaning :- Path Of Religion), and many Santali drama's.
He died on 3rd July, 2013 (Wednesday) at the age of 75 yrs at his home at Raotara village in Dhalbhumgarh, East Singhbhum, Jharkhand, India.
